Italocanadese started as a simple idea. Founder Agata De Santis realized that first, second and third generation Italian-Canadians who had an affinity for their culture were ignored by traditional Italian Canadian media. Equipped with years of experience covering the Italian-Canadian community as a freelance writer, Agata launched italocanadese in August of 2012 – an online magazine about “all things Italian Canadian.”
And…. on June 1, 2025 we launched the Italian-Canadian Collective!
We are looking for contributors across Canada!
Italocanadese is a blog that features stories with an Italian-Canadian perspective. Every story has an Italian-Canadian angle, be it in the subject matter, the interview subject, or the issue at hand. Stories fall into one of four categories: News, Arts & Culture, Community and Events. Although Italocanadese is a web-based publication, we still expect stories to be written in a professional manner that meets high journalistic standards. Pieces must be written in a third-person narrative. If you have a story idea or proposal, please contact founding editor-in-chief Agata De Santis by email at info@italocanadese.org.
